Our Philosophy
We believe in arming people with knowledge.
We believe that knowledge leads to intuition and that intuition leads to wisdom.
We believe that wisdom leads us to make the best choices for ourselves.
We offer to you a healing experience that has its origins in the wisdom of the ancient world. Throughout the ages, the experience of healers and sages is that life is not linear and fixed but rather a world of gradations and of phases of subtlety. Underlying the apparent phenomenal world is a more refined realm of energy and creation; this is the realm of the 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Sky.
From the five elements, we can learn to live as a human being in harmony with nature, abiding by the cycles of the sun and moon of our Mother Earth, sharing her air and water as part of the infinite cosmos.
Our products begin with the idea that the skin is the door to inner health. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and serves as a link to all the other organs. Physicians are now reviving the age-old practice of delivering medicine through the skin. So great, in fact, is the ability of the skin to absorb substances that one drop of essential oil placed on the fingertip will show up in hair analysis ten minutes later. Therefore, the skin is the starting point in all our treatments. We treat the skin as though it is a living, breathing organ that expands and contracts, senses and responds, knows as well as remembers, ceaselessly dying as well as becoming.
Our Product Line
As well, in pursuit of our commitment to provide healthy alternatives to the health and beauty industry, we have developed our own product line, 5 Elements. The 5 Elements program for face, body and hair care is unique in its comprehensiveness. It integrates modern scientific knowledge with the ancient healing wisdoms of yogic science, Ayurvedic medicine and Chinese herbalism.
Our 5 Elements products begin with the idea that the skin is the door to inner health. Our products recognize that the skin is a living, breathing organ that expands and contracts, senses and responds, knows as well as remembers.
Our Literature
Since 1986, when La Casa Resort Spa was founded, our guests have been insistent and persistent about their interest in having written material for them to bring back to their homes. They have wanted health recipes from La Casa Resort Spa, information on detoxification, the rationale for distilled water vs. bottled water – all the material that is in the hearts and minds of our staff. In response to that demand, we have written a book: Insparations: if you can do it at a spa, you can do it at home.
There is a saying in Puerto Rico which reflects the warmth and hospitality of its people: mi casa, su casa; my house is your house. We would like to reverse that saying: su casa, mi casa; your house is my house. We would like to give to people the knowledge that will enable them to transform their own homes into their own version of our spas. We feel that this is the greatest gift we can give.
Over the years, we have read, researched and studied most of the world’s traditions of natural healing, nutrition and methods of detoxification. In our book, we have integrated and implemented what we consider to be the best and most effective aspects of these approaches. We have found that even a short exposure to our program of 5 Elements healing is rejuvenating and brings to its participants a soul-deep calmness.
